Congratulations to PhD student, Trung for his best poster prize on KBC Days!

His poster title was “Sensing Water on Mars: Clay-Salt Interactions under Simulated Martian Conditions”. This project is supported by our PI Merve’s Swedish Research Council Starting Grant (VR-2021-05859) project.

We have a best poster prize winner from one of the Martians in Yesilbas Lab!

Congratulations Trung, for winning the Best Poster Prize at KBC Days! KBC days were held on November 5-6 at the Chemical Biological Center (KBC) of Umeå University. Trung presented his latest results on Mars analogue Fe-rich clay minerals, and how these clay minerals help to retain water under Mars-like conditions. He presented the low-temperature Raman and XRD results as well as microgravimetric analyses data to quantify the amount of retain water.
