Huge congratulations to our Kempe postdoc fellow Alef on his new postdoctoral fellowship!
From Kempe to Lawski Foundation: Alef secures a new fellowship to expand his research in the Yeşilbaş Lab!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our postdoc Dr. Alef dos Santos has been awarded a new postdoctoral fellowship from the Sven and Lily Lawski Foundation, starting February 2027! 🥂 This is a wonderful recognition of Alef's talent, hard work, and the exciting science he has been driving in the lab.
The best part? Alef will continue his journey right here in the Yeşilbaş Lab, carrying forward his research in astrobiology and spectroscopy exploring how life's signatures form, transform, and can be detected under extreme, Mars-relevant conditions. Having his fellowship renewed under a new foundation means his projects, collaborations, and momentum keep growing without missing a beat. 🔬🪐
From his work on cyanobacteria and biosignatures to his mentorship of our students, Alef has become one of the cornerstones of the group, and we couldn't be happier that he'll keep building his scientific path with us. Securing competitive fellowship funding like this is no small feat, and it's a proud moment for the whole lab.
Of course, a milestone like this calls for a celebration and we raised a glass together as a group (while Surendra is rocking the stage on the AbSciCon2026) to toast Alef's success! 🥳 Congratulations, Alef, on this brilliant achievement! We can't wait to see what you'll discover next! 🚀✨
