SPOTLIGHTS ON: Interview with our PI about her recent cool Mars paper published in the Spectroscopy Magazine

Dr. Yesilbas uses spectroscopy to open a window into the geochemical history and astrobiological potential of Mars!

We're excited to share that our PI Merve’s recent research on gypsum transformations under Martian conditions has been featured in Spectroscopy magazine under “National Space Day” theme! Led by Dr. Merve Yeşilbaş, our PI and her collaborators used advanced spectroscopic techniques (Raman, VNIR, mid-IR, and XRD) to explore how gypsum interacts with salts in Mars-like environments to uncover new insights into Mars' geochemical processes and its potential habitability.

These findings provide key data that will enhance interpretations from Mars missions like NASA's Perseverance and ESA's upcoming ExoMars rover. This research significantly advances our understanding of Martian geochemistry and supports future planetary exploration.

Congratulations to our PI and we are looking forward to sharing her new papers on CRISM soon!!
