Flash News!: Yeşilbaş Lab awarded with new SNSA-funded Mars research project!
Congratulations to our PI Merve on her new prestigious funding!
We are delighted to announce that our PI, Dr. Merve Yeşilbaş, has received funding over 5 MSEK for a 4-year research project from Rymdstyrelsen – the Swedish National Space Agency (SNSA). This support marks an exciting new milestone for the Yeşilbaş Lab and our ongoing research on Mars geochemistry, habitability and biosignature detection.
Our PI Merve expressed that “This achievement would not be possible without the dedication, curiosity, and hard work of our amazing research group, whose contributions continue to drive the lab forward. We are truly excited to continue and expand our ongoing work on Mars and future planetary missions in the coming years.”✨🛰️🚀
The project will be carried out in close collaboration with colleagues at NASA, the SETI Institute, and Umeå University, and will address key questions related to Mars exploration and upcoming planetary missions, including ExoMars. These strong international and interdisciplinary collaborations will enable us to advance new approaches for understanding Martian environments and the potential for life beyond Earth.
